Spring Employment Opportunity

The Powell Center for Construction and Environment is seeking bright, enthusiastic, creative students for assistance in coordinating a cultural arts festival this summer. The Juneteenth Festival & Juried Art Show (JFest) is a part of The Cotton Club Museum & Cultural Center, Inc. sustainable rehabilitation project.

Students must be work-study eligible and be able to commit 20 hours a week for up to 16 weeks. Job responsibilities are flexible, but three positions are available under the following categories:

  1. Business Administration: Student should be a business administration or accounting major with practical experience in bookkeeping, and will be responsible for maintaining the financial information for multiple projects at once.
  2. Program Coordination: Student should have a music or theater background, and/or be experienced in planning cultural events. Responsibilities include researching and contacting performers, writing contracts, scheduling events, and more.
  3. Public Relations: Student should be an articulate and enthusiastic public speaker capable of generating sponsorship revenue through meetings and presentations. Other responsibilities include managing fundraisers, designing presentations, and assembling the sponsorship packet.

Experience in graphic design, history (particularly African American or oral history, museum studies, or non-profit work are helpful.
